Is it possible to push baby's waking time later?

My baby is only 5 weeks old but we've had a lot of success following 7-7 routine the past 2 weeks. She goes down at 7pm with dream feed at 11 and then had been only waking once around 3/4 and sleeping til 7. But the past few nights has been waking at 5 which feels not so much like a night feed but more early wakening. I'm fully aware she's still so small so I am taking this all with a pinch of salt and still feel very grateful she is sleeping so well but just wondered if anyone had any tips or experience of this? Is it possible to try and get her to 7am without waking at 5?

I think you’d be bloody lucky at 5 weeks if I’m honest. Just enjoy those newborn early morning snuggles Thanks

Try Gina Ford Contented Little Baby Alicia - I would offer her a top-up feed and try to resettle so her body clock gets used to a more 'reasonable' hour as soon as possible. Your instincts are right here. Consider also a dummy and how dark the bedroom is. Good luck

Just bear in mind that GF isn’t a mother and her books aren’t evidence based, purely opinion. Her methods may work for you and you and your baby could find that it suits you both but don’t get stressed if one of these prescriptive styles of baby books doesn’t suit you. And that’s not a criticism of GF or anyone who follows her books, they just didn’t work for me.

If you do want a book that’s evidence based and written by a mother try the No Cry Sleep Solution for Newborns.

One thing you can guarantee with babies though is that as soon as you think you’ve got it sussed, they change it all around again Smile

She’s only very young you just got to go with the flow , lots of babies this age wake lots in the night.
