Please share your best and most effective reward system or charts for encouraging good behaviour etc.

I have a 2 and 4 year old dds and for the older one I’ve been using a reward system that is as below:

3 target areas (sharing with sister, good independent eating and listening). Every day she gets a sticker on the chart for each target. If she breaks one of those rules majoring (I pick my battles) she gets a sad face drawn on that box. She gets chances to have the sad face turned into a smiley. If by the end of week she collects all stickers on every box she gets a small reward.

The problem is, she gets majorly traumatised by the sad face. It’s a simple circle, two eyes and a frown but ever since she was a baby she always gets really upset by that image. Not sure why.

Anyway when I give her that sad face she melts down like I’ve never seen her before. It’s not fake and it’s not for attention or defiance, she genuinely gets very sad and upset.

So I’m after a new system. Please share yours.

Just dont draw the sad face, the consequence is she doesnt get a sticker.
