How to support 13mo with separation anxiety

My son is almost 13mo. He has been getting progressively clingy which has been made worse by me returning to work and him being in childcare.

Its now at the point that he is waking up all night (last night every hour) and needing cuddles. He point blank refuses to go to sleep so I end up laying him down 99% asleep. This morn I brought him in our bed at 3am because I am just exhausted. Even then he woke every hour and kicked and screamed.

He was also a very good napper recently having 2x 1.15min naps but now wakes screaming after 30/40min again wanting me to hold him

After picking him up from childcare he clings to me like a limpet and cries even with daddy now.

How best can I support him? I feel awful that hes so upset.

My 10 month has been similar, especially with needing cuddles during the night. It's been worse since I went back to work.

My friend recommended that I tie some of my clothes to her cot, so she can smell me. So I wore a T-shirt throughout the day and during the night so it was really smelly, tied it around her cot bars and it worked, she slept through!

That was just over a week ago and she's only woke up twice during the night since I put the T-shirt there, and that was for milk, not so much for cuddles.

Xx

I don't suppose there is any way for you to cut down the amount of time he spends in daycare?
