Potty Training - Gone Wrong

Hello

My DD is 3 next month. She has ditched the nappies but will not sit on a potty, she will however sit on a toilet seat for around 2 minutes, before announcing that she has had a wee wee and jumping off - She hasn't. For the past few weeks she has been going all day without weeing or pooing and then doing both as soon as her nappy goes on at 6ish.
Then 2 days ago she has started weeing throughout the day in her knickers, just a little bit and getting really stressed....

Any suggestions???

hello Lou, I started with my DD (who will be 3 in Oct) 4 days ago and am having a few difficulties too.

The only thing I would suggest is giving her loads more fluids so that she's not able to hold it in all day and has then plenty of practice at weeing in the loo....

My DD has mastered weeing 90 percent of the time in the potty but we haven't had a poo on target yet....when she needs one she takes knickers off and does it on the floor (floorboards thank god)....not annoying at all!? Especially when DD2 (1) crawls through it....

Good luck

Hi Lou - on a positive note at least shes not holding it on all day anymore. DS held his wee in when he was being potty trained only doing 1 a day and crying because he didn't want to let it out for 4 weeks!!!! We tried putting him back in nappies but he even held it in those so put him back in pants.

Hope it helps you to know that once he had stopped holding it in and let it out - even though he was having accidents, it only took a week or so from that point to train him. Also what we did on a couple of occasions was put him in pullups for a moment if we knew he wanted to wee/poo but wouldn't let it out. Then tell him to do it in his nappy then immediately take it off so the nappy was only on for the duration of the wee/poo.That way at least he knew he could control it and from there on it got better too.

Good luck, potty training is tough.

hi lou,
Don't give up! I started potty training my dd (who's 3 September 22nd) on monday and had puddles and poey knickers for 4 days as she acted like she had an allergy to the potty screaming etc, then all of a sudden she decided to use the potty on friday :D and although there have been a couple of accidents when she has been pre occupied she's really proud of going on the potty and even asks first thing in the morning when she has her night time nappy on. We have yet to get poo in the right place but I keep telling her she gets 5 stickers for poo in the potty (she gets 2 for a wee), bribes are great
