Chicken pox?

My 1 year old is just getting over chicken pox. He had a cough last weekend and then his spots started on Monday. He's generally been very well in himself apart from being spotty!

My 4 year old started with a cough yesterday. Today he has been under the weather but still playing normally etc, but has taken himself off to bed at 4pm, with a slight 38 degree temperature. He's just moaned but is still asleep and temperature now 39. Is this the start of chicken pox for him too do you think? I was expecting it a bit later, the incubation period seems quite short?

It took exactly two weeks for DC2 to come out in spots after DC1, but these things vary I suppose. You’ll know within the next 24 hours if this is chicken pox. Good luck Wine

dd1 had chicken pox start on Wednesday and I was googling like mad. 13 days incubation seems normal. could it be 'just'a cough too?

He still had a fever this morning so took him to the doctors - double ear infection diagnosed and on antibiotics now (much to his disgust!). He's had a 3 hour nap at lunch today, went to bed at normal time but has woken up twice so far talking about strange noises scaring him which is very unusual. Temperature not dropped below 37.5 all day but he's been relatively ok in himself. Just have to see what tonight and tomorrow brings I guess.
