Need time on my own!

My 6yo DS is not leaving me alone. I don't mean to sound mean but I just need some time on my own for like half an hour at home. He won't go with DH.

I spent this morning colouring with him , playing with his blocks together , he's watched some TV , played some games , we've done his homework , read a book. Weathers miserable and cold so can't really take him outside in the rain.

I have asked for to play on his own for a bit but he's attached himself to me, jumping on me etc. Won't leave me alone. As I type this he is hanging on to my neck whilst I walk around . He's in a playful mood and I'm trying to remain calm but I will Snap at some point ! What can I do!! ?

You've got to be firm and enforce a bit of tough love. Not just for your sake but for his too as he gets older.
Just explain that mummy needs to do something alone for a while and that you'll play with him at X time. If he cries, let his dad console him. He has to bond with his dad and learn that you aren't his everything.

At 6 he is old enough to play by himself for a little while, or watch TV, or be entertained by his dad.

If he’s anything like my dc though, he will default to me if i’m in. I quite often have to go out if I need time to myself.
