My baby whom has just turned 6 months, favours his left side to face when sleeping, the past few days I've gone through in the morning and he can only really move his eyes to see me and can't turn his head as it's obviously stiff. Has anyone else had this? I'm aware of meningitis but he has no fever etc etc. It's literally just as he wakes up, I pick him out of his cot and he has a whinge for like 2 seconds then the rest of the day he is fine and can move his head, any ideas or suggestions to encourage him to turn his head or to make sleeping more comfortable for him, thanks x

It’s possible he has torticollis. It’s basically a stiff neck due to positioning in the womb. It might be mild enough though that you’ve not noticed it before and it only affects him after sleep when he’s favoured that side. My ds had it (but was obvious from birth). About 3 visits to a cranial osteopath and he could move his neck freely again. If it continues, it’s worth getting checked as it can worsen the longer you leave it and cause flat head syndrome. My gp was useless though and said they wouldn’t do anything until it was severe enough to need a helmet for flat head ( but osteo was great and worked on it and gave us physio exercises to do at home).

get a physio therapy referral. it may affect the shape of his/her head.
