How much influence do you have over toys etc.

I was just chatting to some friends about inappropriate toys and got me thinking.

Are most parents quite strict with policing toys / clothes etc? Or do most people go with the flow?

My DD3 is very stereotypically girly. I started out trying to fight it (particularly the wardrobe) but she likes her princesses, dresses, dolls etc. So I just go with it now.

Convo with friends was about LOL dolls. I do find them weird but she likes them so fair enough if that's what she wants. Friend suggested I get her to play with more educational / appropriate toys. (Obviously she does have other toys not just lol dolls!).

I'm just wondering now if I'm a bit too relaxed with things and may be damaging my child by a) letting her play with inappropriate toys and b) not encouraging more gender neutral toys.

What do you think?

Not really if that's what she wants to play with then at least it's not a waste of money children learn through play wether it's a doll encouraging nurturing or so called "educational toy"...
