Delayed talking

I’m just finding out if anyone is having a similar experience as myself. My son is two this weekend and he is still not talking. He can say mama and dada and he will say some random words sometimes but very rarely. He babbles and will point at things and go “oooo” I’m worried that he might be really late as everyone keeps saying he is late talking. I read with him etc. I just feel his physical skills are more advanced than his motor skills. Should I wait longer or get in touch with someone?

Does he have understanding? If you say..'put that on the chair?' Or 'point to the window' does he? My dc never spoke at that age but understood everything. My health visitor said that he could be referred to speach and language once he turned 3 if still not talking. At 2years 7 months he just suddenly started. Full sentences and hasn't stopped. Have a chat with your hv if concerned but honestly all kids develop when they are ready and people really pressurise situations when actually not that unusual...

Yeah he understands everything really well, Okay that’s not so concerning then thankyou! He should be having HV visit soon for his 2 year check up so I’ll mention it then Smile
