Potty recommendations for large toddlers please

Ds is not quite ready for potty training but we are very nearly there. He has a potty which was part of a set we were given when he was born.

But the poor little thing is so uncomfortable sitting on it as he is so tall and stocky - his knees are up by his ears, the seat is too narrow and if he tried to do a wee he would miss the potty in a dramatic fashion!

Any recommendations for the larger little gentleman?

Mine all fell of their potties, usually having done whatever in them. I hate them, disgusting things and decided to go straight onto toilet seats. Would take mine wherever I went and let them decorate them with stickers. Probably unhygenic but it worked. They have disposable ones , or cleanable ones now, I think. As I have three boys (four counting Dh) I used the ping pong ball method with extra chocolate rewards. You buy millions of cheapy ping- pong balls and get the little wotsits to aim at them in the toilet. Everyone, including Dh at one stage, had a star chart. Most stars, most chocolate!! I had a chubby boy and most awful moment was when he got his little botty stuck in it!! Panic stations!! Wrenched it off, red ring round his botty and wouldn't look at it ever again!! Keep going, my theory is that by the time they're 18, no-one will suck their thumk, pee on the floor or barf all over me. Mind you, maybe they will when they start drinking!!

The Baby Bjorn ones are not bad - we have the one that looks like a cowboy hat. Certainly roomier than the one from Huggies or Mothercare.

We got DS a 'mini toilet' type like This type So much easier for him. He used it for about a month before progressing to standing up for wees and a toilet seat for poops.

We got a toilet ring for ds, as we had the same problme as you. The potty would fit his winkle or his bum, but not both

I felt that going straight to the loo rather than a potty would be a wiser thing for ds too, and this week I think he has cracked it! We still have a problem with poos, but I understand that is common. I am so proud of my little ds...sorry, I digress.
