hi, I am a newbie to MN but I am finding my DD anxiety increasing difficult to deal with. I am struggling to know how to deal with it. I have had Mental health issues since I was quite young and am worried that I am being over sensitive and pandering to her which could be making it worse. can anyone relate?

I've not got any experience but bumping this thread for you Smile

Do you know what dd is anxious about specifically?

Thanks for bumping. Wasn't sure if I had posted it properly! DD is telling me that she is worried that she won't finish her work in school on time because the kids in front of her are a bit disruptive (had this problem before, a few years ago) and staying over at my mum's (with DS),which she has been doing all her life, but this time I let her take her phone, so I was being messaged untill 12.30 when my mum put her in her bed. Is it just pushing boundaries?

I think as parents we always want to be able to fix things for our children when there distressed. But if you’ve had problems with anxiety you know actually providing answers isn’t helpful at all. If you can just provide her protected time to listen, praise her for wanting to focus on her schoolwork, let her know that her feelings are ok and normal.

I hope this helps.
