Buying second hand reuseables

Hi
I've just received 2 nappies that I bought second hand from a nappy lady ad, and they are bald in places and not what I was expecting!! They were advertised as well used but I wasn't expecting this!! Was I being over optimistic and expecting too much? I thought they'd be faded and a little worn but a few more washes and these will have gaping holes!!

what sort of nappies are they? bamboozles have a tendency to have 'bald' patches and come in stock like this!

Hi snuggle, they're clwt twt bamboo ones, and I did think that the bamboo might have something to do with it as the terry one is fine! I didn't pay a lot for them but you could almost see daylight through them! I've not bought any second hand bamboo nappies come to think of it, do they tend to go bald over time?

mmm I dont know, my clwt twt is certainly not bald and is on its 2nd child..well both DDs share it. I wouldnt have expected it to be ready to fall apart.

Hi Nemo, the terry clwts I've got are fine, is yours bamboo? I was considering doing a repair job but I'm not sure its actually possible!! The tongue bit is serviceable as is the terry part on the outside... That'll teach me not to ask for pictures!

sorry no idea about the clwt twt but it could be that they are like the bamboozles. Have to say some of the new from the factory bamboozles I have seen recently look really shoddy (someone described it as looking like they had had a fight with a pair of hair clippers )

Nemo2007 · 15/06/2007 16:08

sorry yes its a terry one..didnt fully read..one eye on kids

snugglebumnnappies -I bought a couple of bamboozles new recently and they have a few bald patches. Didn't know if this was normal or if I should complain...

Redclover -I don't think you are expecting too much...I think I would want my money back. If they are as bad as they sound they should have been put in the bin not sold on.

snugglebumnappies · 17/06/2007 21:16

beckmo, unfortunatley a lot of bamboozles are like this now, I know Nappyzone sent some back to Tots Bots as a customer thought they were really poor quality when she saw them (as did Nappyzone) but Tots said they were fine , I personally would go for Bambineos over Bamboozles every time at the moment, much better quality!

redclover79 · 17/06/2007 22:20

Well I've chucked one in the bin!! The other one Im going to take apart as I'm going to have a play and see if I can make my own!
snugglebumnappies - I don't think they have seen hairclippers, they look more like my threadbare teddies from when I was a kid!!?

Blimey Redclover-that is bad!

Thanks snugglebumnappies -I only bought 2 bamboozles to try out and won't be buying again...although my tots bots fluffles look lovely. Have heard good things about bambineoes on here and think I will purchase a couple to try for the imminent arrival.

nappyzone · 18/06/2007 09:51

i would defo do the bambineos - i am not going to stock bamboozles anymore and it makes me . i still love there wraps btu i just think bambineo are a far superior quality. Bamboozles are a nice pretty colour yes but when you cover them with a wrap as long as the wrap works and is nice who cares what the poo or wee soggy bit is like - no one gets my inserts out of my pockets and inspects them! Bambineos rock! (and there cheaper!)
