Struggling to work out how to dress baby for outside

Does anyone else really struggle to k ow what to dress baby in when going out??

It's 10°c outside at the moment, sunny but chilly.
I'm taking my 12 week old out to an outdoor shopping centre in his buggy.
Would he be too hot in a long sleeve bodysuitd (No legs) + thin footed trousers + a thick pramsuit?
Or should I go with the bodysuit and trousers with a hoodie and a blanket to cover his legs?
Or put a short sleeve bodysuit underneath??

I will be going in and out of shops so do I need to take the pramsuit/hoodie and blanket off everytime and put it back on when I leave the shop?

I knwo it's a bit different because mine is older (9mo) but I would put her in a long-sleeved vest, trousers, hoodie and blanket. Blanket can be removed if she gets hot or doubled-up if she gets cold.

I wouldnt put the pramsuit on as well, Id have the bodysuit, leggings, jacket and blanket (easy to have on or off) or a vest, thick pramsuit and a blanket if really cold

I never actually used a pramsuit, the NCT class woman told us a dreadful story about a baby who overheated wearing one in a shopping centre and died Sad She frightened me off the things for good! So I always went with one layer more than me, a hat, and tucked in with blankets that could be whipped on and off easily.

I second spudlet i only use my DDs pramsuit in the pram if its freezing and we're outside. Also they are dangerous in car seats as you cant pull the straps tight enough x

I agree that blankets are best. They can go on and off so easily. It's not cold enough for a pramsuit I don't think, anyway, especially when you are going to be in and out of shops. Maybe if you were going on a long walk. It's also less to remove for changing.

Thanks all! Going with hooded cardigan and a blanket. Grin

The guideline I was told was the same amount of layers as you, plus one extra layer. Plus a hat.
So if you are in trousers, top and warm jacket, put them in the same plus the blanket that can be taken off in shopping centres where it's warmer.

We only used a pramsuit when it was freezing outside (especially in the snow last year)
