How much notice to give a primary school of move

Hello all, we are moving in February from Bristol back to Devon and I just wondered how much notice to give our child's current primary school.

It's a comprehensive so no fees involved & can't apply for the schools there untill 8 weeks before we move (info from Devon council)

Should I tell them before Christmas break?

Presuming not y10-11 I wouldn't tell them until you have a place at a new school. They can't do anything with the info for admin purposes until you are officially off-role.

Thanks @TeenTimesTwo it's primary and year 4 but will not have a place until we have an address so won't have that until we've practically moved

We moved last December, we didn’t tell the school until we had a place to live (house purchase fell through, we had to find rental), so 3 days before we left Grin
Luckily we already had a school place at the other end, as the school is VA and handles their own in year admissions, and was happy to accept DD.

Sorry, it was the use of the word 'comprehensive' that threw me, that is usually used to describe secondary state non selective.

Primary - same guidance, no point saying anything until you are about to move and have school place. But a quick heads up to the class teacher so they are aware of the DC mentions it wouldn't go amiss.

Thanks all, I'll just let them know the month before we move then. Sorry to confuse, just meant comprehensive to show she wasn't in a public school
