Disrupted sleep at 6 months old

DS (6 months) has never been a particularly brilliant sleeper. Up until now, have mostly bed shared, with some of the night being spent in his next to me crib, however we decided after a successful holiday with him sleeping in a travel cot, that he was ready to move to his own room.

First few nights were ok (standard number of wake ups), and then all of a sudden, he just won’t sleep. He will go an hour tops but most the time I’ll be gone only a few minutes before he’s crying again. Eventually I give up and bring him back into our bed. The other thing is, he often wants to be on the boob at each of these wake ups, even if it’s only for a few seconds before falling back asleep. Is this some kind of separation anxiety or is this what I should expect to happen for a while as he gets used to his nursery?

I guess my question is, for those of you that co slept, how did you successfully transfer your baby to their own room? I feel like I’m never going to sleep longer than an hour at a time again.
