Unexplained pigmentation marks

Hi, dd was born with a patch of small freckles along one side of her back. Over the past 4 weeks a lot more have developed all over her back (mainly lower) and her bum now appears very dark as opposed to the rest of her skin, they have all also increased in size. I am worried sick, and the nurse/midwife have no idea Confused has anybody experienced anything similar or have any idea what this could be?

Not sure but thought I'd give the post a bump for you.

Did the nurse suggest seeing the Dr?

I'm not sure if this will help but possible causes on the below link:

Could it be a Mongolian spot?

Thank you

Yes we saw the doctor yesterday and he also has no idea just told me not to worry as it doesn't look worrying to him!

It's not the right colour to be a Mongolian spot

Hi AB124. What a silly thing for the doctor to say. I wonder if it could be chimerism {http://biologicalexceptions.blogspot.com/2015/09/when-youre-not-just-yourself.html - scroll down to last set of photos} which is mostly harmless, or one of the types of Epidermal Nevus Syndrome (google image search it, but don't freak out - severity varies widely). Though those usually run along Blashcko's lines {swirly} and this is more symmetrical.

I'd ask for a referral to a doctor who isn't a silly ass, preferably a dermatologist. If you do find out what it is I'd be interested to hear some follow-up. Good luck¡
