.....would you put him in tights (under trousers) if it was cold?

I would and have. My ds (3years old) particularly likes pink ones. I have no problem with it and don't think it will affect his sexual orientation although I do hope he becomes a ballet dancer (rather than a rugger bugger)

I've often thought about it, and I mentioned it when we were going through the girls clothes that were too small. There's a couple of neutral baby-grows that they've passed down to him, but Dh was utterly adamant that nooooo, no tights.

lyrabelacqua · 14/06/2007 20:56

I put ds2 (2) in tights under his trousers when he was tiny but i wouldn't now because he'd object.
We were in the dressing up section at Woolies yesterday and i held up a pink princess outfit against him and asked if he'd like to wear it. He backed away with a horrified look on his face.

Bibis · 14/06/2007 20:58

I am sorry Sue but I don't understand why not.

Would your dh rather your ds was cold?

I am not suggesting sending the boy to school in tights, due to teasing, but while they are small and not active and so likely to get even colder sat in a buggy, why not?

I did put ds1 in tights under trousers a few times (navy ones, not pink!) although dh wasn't keen and TBH I found them a pain to get on his wrigglyness .

ds2 likes pink. He loves his pink anywayup cup in particular. He doesn't have any pink clothes though, although I am sure he would be happy to wear them if he did.

goldenwings · 14/06/2007 21:01

i would but my dh wouldgo nutty. i think its because he associates tights with girls whereas i associate clothes with comfort and warmth.

SueBaroo · 14/06/2007 21:02

I said on the other thread I think it's a reaction to having three girls then a boy

He's not cold just because he doesn't wear tights, though. I'm not making him go barefoot just to toughen him up, lol. But all the baby tights we have are flowery frilly things anyway, and I'm not going to begrudge a very good dad the opportunity to milk as much 'little-boy-squee-ness' out of these few months as he can.

southeastastra · 14/06/2007 21:03

i have never put my sons in tights, how cold it is where you are?

ChorusLine · 14/06/2007 21:05

My Dad worked permanent nights for over 30 years (engineering factory) and wore tights in the winter for extra warmth! Couldn't afford thermals

ChasingSquirrels · 14/06/2007 21:07

I did last winter (he is 16m now) as he would NEVER keep socks on. Can't see that I will next winter as he now keeps socks on. Couldn't find any navy so they were all white.

adath · 14/06/2007 22:29

YEs and have done some of dds old ones.
M friend did the same and the only ones she could gat in her ds1 size were pink/white 2 pack and he hated the white ones but loved the pink.
I live in the highlands though so needs must in the winter (read as March )

My DS (7 months) has worn tights under his trousers to stop them riding up and leaving a gap when I'm carrying him in a sling. I'm afraid they are navy blue though. Then I discovered Babylegs leg warmers and used those instead, because it's easier to change nappies!

Piffle · 14/06/2007 22:41

yes ds1 now 13 had gorgeous leprechaun ones

LynetteScavo · 14/06/2007 22:43

Yes. We did on a 5 day pre Christmas trip to Prague. DH insisted on calling them 'leggings'

LynetteScavo · 14/06/2007 22:44

DH didn't wear them. Just DS1 who was 3.

joash · 14/06/2007 22:44

yup - done it with gs

mummytosteven · 14/06/2007 23:23

I did when he was 1.5/2, as he kept insisting on taking his shoes and socks off in Baltic weather! I found plain black and plain red ones eventually as the shops do tend to be full of pink floral tights.

PeggyMitchell · 17/06/2007 01:50

I never put my boys in tights. It hardens them up to feel the cold.

Bibis · 21/06/2007 21:23

Peggy you are all heart , obviously leaving them cold means they turn into thugs so my ds wont be out of them until he reaches puberty

colditz · 21/06/2007 21:24

I have and do.

Stops them removing and slinging socks.

colditz · 21/06/2007 21:25

white tights are fine

Tortington · 21/06/2007 21:26

i did tights under trousers - they can't take them off whilst in pram.

potoroo · 21/06/2007 21:55

Absolutely. But I got navy ones
