Fenugreek to boost supply?

Wondering if anyone has used fenugreek to boost their supply.

Pumping is proving difficult so looking at short term alternatives.

Are you exclusively pumping OP? There’s some info on Kellymom about increasing the amount you can express Smile

No sorry my op wasn't very clear, I'm feeding from breast but when trying to pump to bring up my supply it's difficult and not working for me.

Thanks for the link I will have a look

I took it with DC2. I had a poor supply with DC1 and wanted to try to make sure I had a better supply the second time. I did, but I can't say for sure that the fenugreek contributed as I did lots of things differently. The only thing I can say for sure is that I did give off a vaguely curry-like smell after taking it for a couple of weeks!

It worked for me, I got capsules from Holland and Barrett. The only thing was it worked a little too well and I had to pump lots to avoid blocked ducts, I didn't think it would work so went straight onto the maximum dosage. Once I reduced the dosage it was much better and then I was able to cut them out.

One thing that helped me to pump was looking at DS or smelling his clothes. That triggered the letdown, I found it tricky to start without that.

How old is your baby OP? Is baby gaining weight? Are they bright and alert at times?

How much yiu can express is absolutely no reflection on how much milk you are producing. If baby is gaining weight on your milk alone, you are producing enough milk Smile

Baby is almost 7weeks gaining well and I started off with big over supply, but after first growth spurt it became apparent for many reasons baby isn't feeding efficiently and slowly my supply is dropping. Feeds are taking up to 1hr sometimes longer, averaging 18/19 feeds in a 24hr period. Lactation consultant keeps telling me to pump to bring up my supply so can feed be helped to feed more in a shorter period by let down etc but with baby on my breast so much its impossible to fit in the pumping regularly plus I have other dc in my care.

Have you tried pumping whilst you feed OP? I had an Ameda Lactaline and could pump off one breast while I fed off the other.

Is baby taking an hour for each feed?

Has the Lactation Consultant suggested anything else apart from pumping to increase your supply? There are some tips here on Kellymom Smile

Nope just pumping to increase.

Baby feeds on average around 18 times in 24hrs, probably about 6-8 those last over an hour.

Has tongue tie cut but not improved it.
