Tantrums!!

DS is 18 months and for the last month or so has started having terrible tantrums when he can't have what he wants, or if we take him away from something he is enjoying doing and he doesn't want to leave, and just generally if he can't get his own way 🤦🏻‍♀️
We have been dealing with it calmly, telling him that he can't go out in the garden as it's raining but instead we will play a game. I understand a lot of it is frustration as he knows what he wants and doesn't want but can't yet grasp the understanding of why he isn't allowed it or it's dangerous, or hot, or he can't have a snack as is nearly dinner time etc.
I have heard about the Terrible twos so just wondering if his is normal for his age? How best to deal with it and will it pass?!
Thanks for reading ☺️

I think it's normal m DD (19 months) is exactly the same. We're just trying to be consistent and not give in to tantrums. Distracting often helps end them a bit quicker. She does seem to start 'getting' it (at least sometimes) - she'll start complaining, then realise we're not giving her what she wants and go off in a minor huff.

Although worse times are probably around the corner...

Good luck OP
