Toddler, nursery, cough + cold

My 2 year old boy has had a cold the last two days. He’s due at nursery today for the morning and I’m not sure whether to send him.
He’s fine within himself, doesn’t have a temp and I think he’d join in (as much as he normally does) but he has an awful sounding cough and so much snot that I’m wiping his nose every couple of minutes otherwise we’d be flooded 🤢
I don’t know whether to send him as I’m conscious of him passing it to other kids but equally he’s happily playing next to me albeit very snotty.
He’s not been at nursery long so any advice would be great.

As he has no fever and playing normally I would send him in. Mine went in last week with a cold and no one batted an eyelid. I also asked when visiting the nursery and they said it's fine to send them with a cold.

To be honest if I’m going to be at home anyway in those circumstances I normally keep mine at home. Its not much fun for anyone to be constantly wiping snot.

The thing is the drop off is already traumatic as he cries when I leave him Sad so I think that’s also influencing whether I take him, but apparently he always settles and is fine once I’ve gone. I can hear him downstairs now running around after my husband pretending to be a lion (that has a cough). I just can’t believe the amount of snot!!

If you’re at home anyway I would keep him at home-saves him passing it in to the whole of the nursery.

Yep I’ve ended up keeping him at home. He seems tired now so I’m glad I did. Normally he throws off colds quickly but this seems particularly rough.

My DS has had a cold for about 6 weeks. I think it’s just part of being at nursery. If you are at home, it’s great that you can keep in with you if you want to. However, I don’t think a cough and cold (as you describe it) should normally stop at a child going to nursery.

I agree dontbuymesocks. Normally I would have probably sent him but I’m glad I didn’t as he’s got steadily worse as the day’s gone on. Hopefully a restful weekend will help.
