To nap or not to nap?

DS will be 3 in couple of months and till now he is taking his nap every single day with a really rare exceptions.
However for the last 3 months he is taking ages to fall asleep at night and I was thinking that a nap is a problem. When he doesn’t take a nap he would fall asleep in minutes but then he is completely exhausted by bedtime so it seems like he still needs it.
I have tried cutting the nap short and it doesn’t help either...
Any advice please?

We had this and the solution was definitely to drop the nap. Painful as it was. Bedtime came forward to make up for it. At first it was maybe every other day nap. Then maybe twice a week. Now it’s very rare indeed and we pay the price at bedtime if he does nap. It probably took a good 6 months though (from 2.5 -3) for him to be totally used to no nap. Now he sleeps roughly 6.30/7- 7.30 and is asleep in minutes.

We do quiet time instead for an hour. I have baby DD who naps at that time and I’d go insane without some break in the day.

@caterina thanks. That’s the only thing I’m thinking about is losing my day break but then...earlier bedtime would be great at the same time!
