rear facing toddler seats - joie tilt?

I have no idea whether I am posting in the right place! I am looking for a rear facing seat for my one year old. She is only little (25th percentaie) and so is still in her baby seat. My other children have also been little and so a rear facing until 18kgs would be fine because I would anticipate that she will fit in the seat until she is at least 3 and my experienece tells me that by then I want her to be forward facing anyway.

The seat I had for my older children was a rear facing recaro seat but it was in a (minor) accident so we will be replacing it. I don't really want to spend £300. We are looking at the Joie tilt. Does anyone have any experience of this seat? I dont want to risk my child's safety by picking a cheap inadequate deat for the sake of a few quid but equally I don't want to spend unecessarily on something which has gimicky things I dont need.

any advice/experience would be greatly appreciated!

The Tilt is a good seat safety wise. The problem with it is it has a short shell so most children grow out of it much earlier than 18kg. Might not be an issue if she's also 25th centile height? Otherwise the Stages costs a little bit more but has a taller shell so worth might be worth considering.

thank you for this, no she is about average height I think. I suppose sitting her in it is the best way to see how close she is to the top.

If she's average height I'd definitely consider the Stages over the Tilt. If you got the Tilt, she'd likely outgrow it before she was old enough or tall/heavy enough for a high back booster which means you'd have to buy another harnessed seat before you could move to HBB. I'd save my money and spend a little bit more now by getting a seat that should last her until she's 4.

The FB group Car Seat Advice UK is good for this. You need to know her centiles for height and weight, or just give her age, height and weight and they can work it out and advise.

PS It doesn’t really matter but there is a car seats topic if you want to get this moved

My 1 year old has a Stages, I think it's only a bit pricier than the tilt.

The Joie every stages fx has actual had a safety warning attached to it and received a scoring which would put it as a do not buy on Which? Website. This review was based on using it front facing though, I'm in the process of changing our car seat and although I would use it rear facing, it still out me off slightly safety wise .
