Am I making a mistake moving this semi-expensive toy on? DS3

I got this Learning Resources Gears toy for my DS3 after reading amazing reviews on amazon. We've had about 2 or 3 minutes playing with it, then he is a bit bored of it. I don't think there are ways to do extended play with it, and not really much challenge in terms of building.

Will this come into it's own when he's older, or is it as rubbish as I think?

It was £40, not hugely expensive, but expensive for 2 minutes of play!

How old is he? At 4+ I'd say put it in the back of the wardrobe til he's 5 or 6.

And if you're looking for an alternative I love magnatiles tho they are £££

If he’s three, I’d say he’s just too young for it. We had similar and it was around 5-7 that they played with it. Must get it out again for the youngest actually.

Thanks for replies. DS is 3, almost 4. I'll retire it to the cupboard for a few years.

We have magnatiles and he LOVES them, I was looking earlier today at getting more for Christmas and I forgot how expensive they are!

The year 1 class I helped in last year went completely flipping bonkers for those gears toys - so I'd hang onto it and give it a little holiday for a while.
