When did you put your DC in a room together?

Hi, ds1 is 2 and a half, has been in his room since around 9 months, he loves it and sleeps well. Ds2 is about to turn 1 and due to lack of space is still in our room.

Ideally we would like them to share a room but ds1s room is a little small for 2 beds and wardrobes etc. We have been thinking about putting them in together but giving them our room.

I'm just wondering if anyone has any tips/experiences to help with the transition for ds1 to go from having his own familiar room to himself to a different room and sharing with his brother. I don't want to ruin the good routine we have for him now, also ds2 isn't a great sleeper so we are worried he will wake up ds1 through the night.

We would love our own space back though and maybe ds2 will sleep better if he isn't in with me (still breastfeeding and I swear he can smell me!)

Any suggestions are welcome!

We have a similar age gap and moved them in together at about the same time. It works surprisingly well and they seem to be able to sleep through the other one screaming 🤨
Dc2 is not a good sleeper and moving didn't really make things better or worse.
We still have a travel cot in our room however and dc2 comes in in the early hours of the morning to stop them waking dc1. Dc1 was super happy at getting a room mate but she had always been a bit miffed about sleeping on her own when the rest of the family was all together 😅
