Just that really! Interested in when teeth are brushed (ie before or after milk) and if they still have a bottle etc

Teeth in the bath, the bottle before bed. She’s nearly 3. ItMs not the recommended plan but it works for her and us.

bourbonbiccy · 04/10/2018 21:38

17.00 ish wrapped up and out in the garden for an hour of play

Just turned three, teeth and toilet. Get in bed, read about 500 books! Then she always has to ah e a drink of water (i don't no how she doesn't have accidents) then we lie down and sing a song say our love you and cudgels. Then I have to turn my back to her but stay in the bed and egnkre her otherwise she won't stop talking hahah. In bed at seven o'clock every night! Sleeps through haha

ConsiderHerWaysAndOthers · 04/10/2018 21:49

Dinner at about 5.30-6pm, quick play followed by a story with a beaker of cow’s milk afterwards, teeth followed by bath about 6.45pm, bed around 7pm. She’d be happy without the milk but the doctor wants her to have it for the vitamins!

SoyDora · 04/10/2018 21:51

Mine are 4 and 3 now but the routine has been the same for years.
Dropped bottles with both at 12 months and replaced with cup. Milk in a cup downstairs, upstairs for bath, teethbrush, stories and bed.

SoyDora · 04/10/2018 21:52

Oh and a wee last thing as both no longer in night nappies.

Zipadeedoodah2 · 04/10/2018 21:53

😆 500 stories - sounds familiar!

Thanks for the replies. I know I probably should be doing teeth after milk but I love our little routine of bath, milk and stories. Wondering whether at 18 months I should do milk, teeth then bath 🤔. When did you all stop using bottles?

OP posts:
LoisLittsLover · 04/10/2018 21:54

5:45 dinner
6:15 supper (milk and cereal)
6:45 bath, then teeth
Stories
Songs
Last wee
Cuddles and last song
7:30 sleep

SoyDora · 04/10/2018 21:56

Stopped bottles at 12 months... thought it was easier to do it then than when they got older and more stubborn!

JupiterDrops · 04/10/2018 21:59

Cup of milk around 6ish, they bring that into the bath with them, no idea why.
Once they've had enough of their milk, teeth brushed, pyjamas on, stories and cuddles and bed by 7.
15 months old.

GiraffeObsessedBaby · 04/10/2018 22:12

OP thank you for asking this! My DS is coming up to one and he generally falls asleep on the bottle or just after and I've been wondering what to do in the next few weeks!

Our current routine is -
5 ish tea
5.30-6.15 wind down/quiet play
6.15 bath and teeth
6.30 into bedroom to get nappy/pjs/meds
6.30-6.40 stories/quiet play
6.40-7.00 ish bottle and songs and then down in cot usually asleep or close to.

I have no idea what to do about changing this up and losing the bottle Confused

bourbonbiccy · 04/10/2018 22:14

My DS is 13 months and we are going to try stopping after this weekend, although it saddens me as he really enjoys it and gets excited when he sees it but I understand it is recommended at 1 for his teeth.

We kept the bottle as we have just been on holiday, so kept it for the flight for the sake of a month or 2, (or so I told myself 😳😳)
Could you maybe try bath, milk then teeth?

We just snook another teeth in before bed, so kept his routine the same, then added another clean in.

DappledThings · 05/10/2018 16:21

Bath around 6.30, teeth, pyjamas and stories. Lights out by about 7.10.

Never had bottles regularly but stopped them at all at 12 months. Still had a bf before bed till 13 months when we swapped it for a cup of cow's milk. Stopped that when he stopped asking for it around 20 months.

Dentist told me to have minimum 30 minutes between milk and teeth so when he was having it it was before bath with teeth very last thing after stories.

April2018mom · 05/10/2018 18:13

Tea
Quick shower
Storytime before bed
Lights off

We also do a good amount of exercise each day so they will be tired by eight pm.

lexi727 · 05/10/2018 18:19

2 year old DS:

5pm: dinner
5:30pm: little bit of a play
6pm: bath. DH usually gets home at this time and he absolutely idolises his dad so they spend time together at this point.
7pm: DH takes him into his room, they read a story, he has his bottle and then gets put to bed.

It's weird, if he eats any later than 5pm he literally will not settle until gone 10pm.

pastabest · 05/10/2018 18:26

Since about 14 months the routine has been

5.30 large hot supper
6.00 bath (teeth done in the bath)
6.30 downstairs for story/ in the night garden and pyjamas on
6.45-7.00 bedtime depending on tiredness.

She started refusing the bottle of milk at around 14 mo so she doesn't get one (won't drink it at all actually now) and I just make sure she eats plenty of calcium through the day.

user1493413286 · 05/10/2018 18:29

My 18 month does bath or change, teeth, book and bottle in the dark and into the cot awake and falling asleep by herself. I haven’t managed to get her off the bottle but I’m working towards bottle then teeth but I love the sleepy cuddles with her at bedtime

ImNotCrying · 05/10/2018 18:35

My 14mo is thankfully fab at bedtime. Although he still wakes up during the night half the time 🙄

He’ll have dinner around 4.30, bath around 5.30 (doesn’t mind if we skip it sometimes though), pj’s, bottle (sometimes refuses it), teeth, story then bed. Usually asleep around 6.

Zipadeedoodah2 · 05/10/2018 19:32

I do love the bottle, stories then into bed but I know I should change it soon (for his teeth sake!). His last molars are coming through so I think I'll wait for them (so there's no excuses for needing a bottle for comfort!). I'll then try milk before teeth and bath. Then it's stories and into bed. When I dropped the morning bottle ages ago he refused to take the milk in a cup so he may do the same when I get rid of the evening bottle. It's always hard to change things when you know they work and that you get a decent nights sleep - sleep is soooo precious now!

Last drink by 7:30 followed by teeth.
Upstairs by 8:30 for story then lights out by 8:45

Would love them to go to bed earlier but no joy on that one yet without super early waking in the morning

speakout · 05/10/2018 21:45

and cudgels

Seems a little harsh- I imagine it stuns the little blighters into submission.

Lookingforadvice123 · 05/10/2018 21:52

Very simple! Tea around 5-5:30, 1 hour max of TV until 6:30pm (the only TV he has all day), cup of milk while watching TV. Bath at 6:30pm, teeth brush in the bath. Jammies on and story before bed by 7ish or soon after. Recently gotten rid of the bedtime dummy at 2.9!

Sipperskipper · 06/10/2018 06:47

DD is nearly 17 months. Our routine is:

Dinner 6ish
Glass of milk and a bit of banana 7 ish
Bath about 720 (teeth in the bath)
Massage and a little song
Into sleeping bag in cot with dummy and white noise at about 745.

She hasn’t had bottles for a while as has never really liked them. Dummies on the other hand.....!
