Am I the only one using terries at night?

My 14 months DS is quite a heavy wetter which with regular daytime changes disposables cope with fairly well. Night time however is a different story with constant leaking despite my trying all sorts of different options. Then my MIL persuaded me to try traditional terry nappies, saying how when properly fitted she hardly ever had night time leaks with her own kids. Very conveniently she had everything needed which had been around for goodness knows how long, nappies, pins, plastic pants, the whole lot! She insisted on showing me how I should put the first nappy on, or I should say nappies...as she used a second pad folded one as a booster. DS went to bed with a far bulkier bum than usual but he didn’t seem too bothered about it. I was reserving judgment until the morning ‘though, but to my amazement I found him in a totally dry bed and pj’s which I have to say was very unexpected. The nappy was really wet but along with the plastic pants had done a perfect job of containment. It’s now a case of “I told you so”, but I can’t argue with the result and having continued with this traditional night time system for over a month without a single leak, am now totally converted. The question to ask, is how many of you out there are using this traditional method because of its success, or am I the only one?

Join cloth bum mums on Facebook there's a whole load of people doing it!
My dd is 5 months and hasn't worn a disposable day or night since she was three weeks old. We use two terries at night one on top of the other and one Terry cloth during the day with a waterproof wrap. Saves so much money and it really isn't that much more work :)

We use cloth 🙂 i'm not brave enough for terries as couldn't get the folds right with DD but we use the 2 parter LLs instead. Sooooo much better than disposables

And for later there are bigger thicker terries too - 70cm and 75cm.
