Formula/bottle feeding past one year

Two related issues really. Did you formula or bottle feed past one year?

When DS turned one, we were in the middle of lots of change - starting nursery and moving house. HV suggested we could continue bottle feeding for a few more months until DS was more settled. So we kept going with formula and bottles.

He settled into our new home brilliantly. It took about 6 weeks of tears at nursery but something clicked about 3 weeks ago and he's much happier now.

I was just wondering when to ease off? He has 400-600ml a day, usually in the morning after breakfast, a little in the afternoon and last thing at night. He is also breastfeeding varying amounts. DS has a decent appetite, but no matter how much food he eats, if we offer a bottle after he will happily drink 100-200ml. Formula gives me a bit of reassurance actually that he is getting some nutrients because he can be a bit picky, shunning vegetables in favour of meat and fruit. But I do wonder if he'd eat more if we weren't giving him formula. In addition, DH loves feeding DS - he's a little reluctant to give it up.

I thought we'd keep going until 15mo. I wasn't sure about the downsides, apart from DS' teeth which we are careful to brush. I was just curious what other parents did.

I did bottle with both mine till 18+months with cows milk. I was advised to wean bottles at 2. Day bottles were naturally dropped but I think they are meant to be dropped by 1 year

DS was on 3 bottles a day at 1, morning and bedtime and then one about 2pm. He dropped the daytime one pretty soon after he turned 1 but kept the morning and night ones for a long time. He’s 2.5 now and I think we switched from a bottle to a beaker somewhere between 18 months and 2? I can’t remember exactly when. About a month ago he stopped wanting milk at bedtime but he still insists on it first thing in the morning.

I did switch to cows milk from 12 months though so all those bottles were just normal milk not formula.

I’m still bottle feeding my 1yo DS. 3 bottles of cows milk though not formula. Morning, nap time and bed time. Just trying to drop that nap time bottle with little success 😩 Hoping to be off bottles by 18months (ish)

My 12 month old has a bottle of cows milk, about 4-5oz, first thing and before bed. Obviously we brush her teeth after the last bottle.
Sometimes she has another 3oz bottle in the day if she is hard to settle for a nap but I try to give day time milk in a sippy cup at snack time.

We did. Ds had toddler formula until about 18 months.

DS was only having a bottle before bed at 12 months.
We dropped that bottle at 15 months. He wasn't phased by not having formula anymore - it's the dummies that he can't let go of Confused

My DS was only on a night time feed at 12 months, it's cows milk and its from a bottle. We are going to stop the bottle now at 14 month, but he really enjoys it but they say it's best for his teeth, so will see how he gets on, it may encourage him to drop it all together.

Ds is 20 month and still has cows milk in a bottle morning and bedtime. He'll take it from a sippy cup but doesn't seem to get as much comfort from it most of it will end up on the floor. I remember getting a bottle of formula at night till I was 4 they were only stopped because I was about to start school!

Switched to cows milk about 2 weeks before he turned 1 ! What a relief to stop the faff of formula. He was eating 3 meals a day by then with a bottle before day time nap and a bottle before bed. Switched to a sippy cup a few months after that. By 18 months just a cup of warm milk before bed. He's now 4 and will still have a mug of warm milk at bed time !

Following... I have a 22 month old who's had a couple of big changes this month (new sibling and new nursery, latter not planned but we had an incident with her first one). She has an 8oz bottle before bed of cow's milk, I'd like to stop it before she turns 2, and will probably replace with a sippy cup.

Also following as I was thinking about this yesterday.

My 14mo DD is still having 3 bottles of cows milk a day.

Ideally I want to start by dropping the day time bottles but have no idea how to go about this. She's always been fed to sleep 😔
