Applying for school

So first of all we live in Northern Ireland, so the application process over here might be a little different than the rest of the UK.

I just don't know where to start? My little girl is 3 in November so won't actually be starting proper school until September 2020, but so many people I've spoken to in my area have reccomended I get her name down asap, since the school I want to send her to is quite popular. Don't even know if they'll accept her application so early? I know not eveybody gets a place at their chosen primary school but I'd like to think we're in with a good chance, my partner and all of his siblings went to the school many moons ago, and we literally live a 3 minute walk around the corner. Would applying early make it more likely that my DD would get a place? Would they even accept an application so early? And how do you even go about the whole application process? She is my first DC and I am so lost with all of this?

Suggest you repost in the Primary board and include NI in the title.
Also if there is a specific NI board post there too.

I know the rules for England but have no idea if they cover you too.
