Baby lost weight

Hi mummies,

Went to weigh my lo, he has dropped a centile, is this “normal” whilst weaning? Since weaning he has also dropped his night feed. We’ve been doing this for almost 2 months now and the last time I weighed him was about 6 weeks ago. I’m just a little worried.

Hey. Yes I heard it's normal. It's really worrying and I've been there, but as long as he hasn't lost weight, is alert, plenty of wet nappies and meeting milestones try not to worry.

Is he crawling or starting to try? That can burn a lot of calories!

Try not to worry. I know it's hard.

Just to be clear, dropping a percentile isn't necessarily dropping weight.

Mine started on 50th and dropped to 25th.

Oh really? I always thought weight. LO was born on 25th rise to 50 and back to 25th.

Are you bf? It's natural to waver above and below a percentile, and some drop or gain a percentile permanently (like mine has).

If I remember right in the red book somewhere it does say babies can go above and below a percentile. They fluctuate and as long as they're doing the bits I've previously wrote, they don't worry as such until they drop 2 percentiles. You're baby hasn't lost weight, just dropped a line. All is good.

Hi,

No formula fed. We have plenty of wet nappies and yes appear to hit the milestones. Yes he is trying to crawl or doing this shuffle type thing. Thank you x
