Hi,

Just want to check how to react to a situation like this. I started sending my 4 year for a karate club in his school. He went for 2 classes and we asked the teacher at the end of the class about how my son was getting on. He said " ur son is just standing on a side and not doing anything, don't waste your money"
Now I am very disappointment for a teacher to say that I shouldn't waste money. I thought as a teacher one needs to have patience and encourage a child . What are your thoughts?

How big is the class? Maybe he doesn’t have time to coax your son and he genuinely doesn’t want you to waste money?

I did karate with my ds for the first few sessions until he got the idea and had made a couple of friends.
I don’t think much of the teacher though.

It is a class of 15 - 20 children.
I just can't understood why someone would say that without given a child to get adjusted. It was just his second class and some children do take sometime more than other children .

Was he being genuine or was he being snarky?

Seniorschoolmum: What r u suggesting? I am in two minds whether I should stop sending him to the class if teacher is not being very supportive . Or I should just send whims I know my son will take time but adjust very well .

Is your son 4 years old or in year 4 (age 8 to 9). If he's 4yo then maybe too young for this kind of club - and probably tired after school as well.

SnuggyBuggy · 25/09/2018 18:32

Did your son express an interest in this activity?

sue2404 · 25/09/2018 18:35

he is 4 years old and its a after school club . Just had to send him to some club until I pick him up . he had either french class or karate . he said karate and we just went with it.

Maybe he is tired after school. 4 is pretty young.

YeTalkShiteHen · 25/09/2018 18:41

Sounds like you need a childminder OP.

Pooleschoolschoice · 25/09/2018 18:46

Gosh at 4 I dont think you can send to an activity if theyre not really keen. Mine were exhausted when theyd just started school amd noway could do karate or French!!

Maybe look for a childminder?
