Rash or eczema

Hi my son is 7 weeks old he’s r cent broke out with a horrible rash on his face.

His skin looks sore and a bit flacks and red.

I’m so worried. I went to the Docters but she didn’t seem to be that bothered she just felt his skin and said it’s eczema and just to keep doing what I’m doing as in putting Vaseline on his face.

I’m just wanted to really get others opinion on this too. Is this eczema or just a rash. Either easy will it clear up and will my son have eczema for life?

So sorry just a tad bit concerned.

I've never heard of Vaseline as a treatment for eczema in babies. Or anyone. See another doctor.

Baby acne? Certainly wouldn’t use Vaseline.

See another doctor she shouldn’t have said to use Vaseline, very weird. My baby had severe baby acne and it didn’t look like this but that’s not to say it isn’t ,she also had eczema and it looked a little like this you need a good emollient and possibly a low strength steroid cream if it gets worse , for now don’t use any products on his skin/ in the bath etc

To answer your question ezcema is very common in babies and they often grow out of it , DD had it pretty bad from 3-7 months and now I know how to manage it it’s pretty much completely gone. Is it else where on the body ?

No just his face.

It certainly looks like it could be eczema. I wouldn’t use Vaseline. Aquamaxx is a great cream. I ordered it from Amazon. My baby is 7 months now and it’s hardly noticeable anymore with daily treatment. It will clear up as he gets older.
