DD wakes up very stressed in night needing wee

My dd is 2.10 and has been dry in the day for 3 months now - infact she is excellent but... she wakes at 11pm - 1pm screaming, stressed (she still wears a night nappy)and we are sure its because she needs to go for a wee but now doesnt like to go in the nappy and wont get out of bed to use potty/toilet.

Both I and DH try to calm her but she wont stop screaming and throwing pillow/teddy out of bed. If we leave the room she crys even more. After 1 hour and a nappy change even if its dry she usually goes back off Knackered! Please reasure me that someone else has gone through this and any advice? 38 weeks PG and V. tired!

Is she actually awake when she's getting in a state? My dd did the same when she was that age. Freaked the babysitters out once, because we forgot to tell them! She wasn't wearing a nappy and all we did was not talk to her, just guide her to the loo and then back into bed. She soon settled down again.

take her nappy off at night!

She is awake maureenmlove and perhaps I do need to take the next step and take her nappy off. Occasionally she does sleep through and has a sopping nappy in the morning so still not sure if she's ready for that yet.

mine all had wet nappies until I ditched the night time one

I'd give it a go, anythings worth a try isn't it? Can you at least put a matress protector on, just in case? She's bound to have a few teething problems, but you've done pretty well imho to get so far at 2.10!

how about putting her in dry nights/pull up pants at night so that she can get them off herself and use the potty? That might encourage her to get up and use it! Once my DD was dry in the day she couldn't stand being in a wet nappy at night but wasn't ready to go without completely so this was a good compromise.

Thanks maureenmlove and everyone for comments. I think she might be the same pinkteddy, and doesnt like a wet nappy in the night but not quite ready to lose it all together. I have bought drynights pants this morning and plan to put potty by the bed. Atleast she will be able to pull them up and down herself.
