Toddler keeps wriggling out of sleeping bag!!

Hi! My DS is 16 months has always been in sleeping bags for nighttime since he was tiny but recently he’s started wriggling out and I actually watched him on the monitor pulling the buttons on the top whether for comfort or actually trying to set himself free is debatable! We seem to have tried every clothing combination there is in desperation to see whether he’s too cold/hot and a vest, pj top and 2.5 tog seems the best but only whilst he’s in it!! For the last few nights we’ve had to go in either the middle of the night or really early morning to put him back in as he’s woken up cold. Someone told me about a sleeping bag with arms - I’ve researched them and one was £70 so that’s a no go! ! I’ve ordered some fleece sleep suits in desperation from NEXT but I don’t whether that’s a good option either - do I just pop a vest on and that’s it? He definitely won’t keep a blanket on either Sad I always get the impression he doesn’t like being too warm so I’m worrying now that the fleece thing will be too much! The room temp is a constant 19c. Literally at my wits end! He’s only just started sleeping through in the last few weeks and now another thing to contend with! Any advice much appreciated! Xx

The sleeping bags we had back in the day had the poppers on the front of the shoulders, are yours like that? Putting them on back to front helped for a while

Could he be too warm in a 2.5 tog? I've still got my summer quilt on and I'm a cold person

Get a duvet.

I would either change the sleeping bag to one that doesn't have poppers at the top or put it on backwards.

Hi, yeah the poppers go over the shoulders at the front, he just pulls on it until it comes free and I guess in the night the constant movement is making it come free!? Confused I’ll try back to front and see if helps, just one good night would be a blessing atm! thank you for the advice xx

I second getting him a duvet

Get him a duvet, I know we stress they get too cold but he's telling you clearly he's had enough of being wrapped up like a sausage and wants his freedom Grin they snuggle into duvets even if they kick them off.

Thanks everyone! I did ponder on getting him a duvet so might give that a go if the sleeping bag fails me again tonight! Thanks Xx
