4 month old teething?

FTM here so not exactly sure what I'm on the look out for. I reckon that 4.5 month old DS is teething but everyone says he's too young.

Dribbling has ramped up considerably in the last few days and I've spotted what look like white caps on his top gum. The one in the right actually feels sharp. I've read that they should get bottom teeth first and that teething usually doesn't start until 6 months! Are these teeth coming through?

Pic attached of his top gum. We've just gotten over 4 month sleep regression and was hoping for a break before teething Confused his sleep is all over the place again. I have teething gel but are the teething crystals any better?

My eldest got his first teeth through at 5 months. So 4.5 months is definitely not too early! I'm also sure my youngest wasn't quite 6 months when his came through.

If you think DC is teething try the gel or powder. I found Anbesol (not certain of the name now!) gel the best and Aston and Parsons powder was really good.

If it is any help, I found that the first teeth coming through were always the worst! My youngest especially never seemed bothered by his teeth after that and I would be surprised to see loads popping up in his mouth!!

My 4 month old is teething too 😭 definitely not too early..

Smurfybubbles · 16/09/2018 09:11

@Fatted ah I used to use Anbesol on mouth ulcers and it was brilliant might try track that down! He hasn't been too bothered by these coming through just the crap sleep and floods of dribble.

@Cosmoa oh no, it's tough straight after sleep regression. We're running on empty here and just seen the light at the end of the tunnel for it to be taken away again! Here's hoping for both our sakes they cut quick!

@Smurfybubbles Oh I'm dreading this sleep regression! Hoping it doesn't happen.. Not sure if it's something that definitely happens or not! How long did it last for you?

We've been using Ashton & Parsons powder. She doesn't like a dummy so I just tap some onto a spoon and then use my finger to put it on her tongue/gums and she seems to like it!

Fingers crossed you get some sleep soon ❤️

My first started at bang on 3 months. I remember it vividly as we were in church attending midnight mass.

2nd has been the same. Still no sign of a tooth 2 months later Sad

Smurfybubbles · 16/09/2018 10:43

@Cosmoa he was 11 days overdue so that factors into their leap age, so I'd say he started around 3.5 months and last around 3 weeks. He went back to normal afterwards but now this. Some babies don't get sleep regression so you could be a lucky one!

@Marmite27 oh dear that's so young to be dealing with that kind of pain! Can you see the tooth in the gum? I'm hoping because I can see it that it will come through quickly. 2 months of this would be no fun. He's just screamed for 20 mins until he passed out asleep. Combination now of tiredness and pain, poor thing.

My daughter has been teething since two months also actually but its been getting worse lately and she's also going through the big 3/4 month leap so it's been exhausting in the day 😭 especially the last few days she she's had a cold as well! Poor thing just keeps bursting into hysterics or waking up in hysterics! Luckily though she's still sleeping at night.. Counting my blessings!

Livinglavidal0ca · 16/09/2018 10:52

My son got 4 teeth when he'd just turned 5 months. 2 appeared then about a week letter another 2 just grew in overnight. He has 8 teeth now and he's 11 months.

Smurfybubbles · 16/09/2018 11:11

@Cosmoa oh dear you're getting it from all angles! Your LO could be going through sleep regression too as it's generally the same time as the forth leap but they don't mention sleep regression in the Wonder Weeks ap!

@Livinglavidal0ca 5 teeth so quick Confused

I've just ordered a Sophie the giraffe as he struggles to hold the normal teething rings in his mouth! This one looks a bit easier for them to hold and munch on.
