So my sweet laid back little boy is becoming a bad tempered drama queen! It started maybe about 6 months ago but is happening more frequently and escalating. So it's basically whenever he is told to do something he doesn't want to do, like coming in from playing out when it's late, or doing his homework. We give fair warning of the time. we set out each day what will be happening, he agrees, then when the crunch comes he kicks off. Today there was a huge stamping shouty tantrum followed by 2 hours (yes 2 hours) of sulking and stand off. Eventually the 10 minute piece of homework was done. By then everyone in the house (including the dog) was exhausted.
To give credit to Dh and I neither of us lost our tempers or shouted, we stayed calm but firm the whole time. But I will be hitting the wine later!
Any advice? He's doing well at school and his teacher sings his praises.
