3 year old broke his foot...happened to anyone else's little one?

Hi Mum's,
My 3 year old decided to take a ninja dive off of his new, mid-riser bed and and broke his foot. It happened last night and today the x-ray confirmed a brake in the metacarpal on one foot. They've put a cast on and we're going to a fracture clinic tomorrow to see an Orthopeadic Consultant.
I'm worried that they may recommend surgery, or say he'll be in a cast for 6 weeks, etc...
If anyone elses child has had a similar fracture at the same age, it would be helpful to know how it was treated, timelines, recovery period....thanks in advance xx

Don't know if it helps but I fractured my metacarpal when I was 11. I wore a cast for two weeks which probably wasn't long enough as I went on to break it again in my 20s and ended up having surgery. Hope that helps.
