Breastfeeding when sick

I've been up throwing up for the last hour , possibly from some dodgy prawns and I feel hot/cold. Is it safe to breastfeed my ten week old when sick if I don't know what it is?
I'm assuming it is (provided I'm not actually sick on him) but thought I'd better check as he's due a feed

Yes, keep breastfeeding him if you're able to.

Hope you feel better soon xx

Yes it's fine. I've BF through influenza and food poisoning. Wash hands before touching baby. Feel better!

Yes, I breastfed through norivirus - baby refused bottle so no choice. She didn’t get it, amazingly. If it’s something catching your milk will potentially help him fend it off.

Yes it’s fine. Make sure you drink plenty of water though.

Hope you feel better soon.

Yes - actually more important than ever as your milk will contain antibodies to help your baby not catch the lurgie.

Having said that if you’re shattered and weak, don’t give yourself a hard time if your baby has an occasional bottle until you’re back on your feet. You need to get what you need too!

Thank you

Yes, although as above, don’t do yourself in trying to keep feeding.

Keep taking sips of water or dioralyte if you have it, even if it seems to be coming straight back up you will be absorbing some of it.

It’s one of those ‘being a parent really sucks’ moments.

Pompom42 · 14/09/2018 06:13

Yes I did and baby didn't catch it.

It was one of the best sleeps baby has had at night to and I've been up most of it feeling unwell....feeling much better now other than a bit dehydrated
