Toddlers hitting each other

Hi,

I have a 18m DS and a 2yo niece who see each other probably 3 times a week. They get very excited when they see each other, but their playing usually descends into snatching each others toys and hitting each other. They both also seem to get jealous if for example I'm cuddling one or if one of them is eating something (even if they are both eating the same thing!)

I'm just seeing if anyone had any advice on how to deal with this behaviour before it gets out of hand.

At this age you just have to do your best to keep them separate if they start to hit each other. I used to say a firm "No. Don't hit" and move the offending toddler out of the way but tbh I think a bit of bickering is par for the course at this age!

My twins are 2 this week - they rarely hit but they fight over bottles all the bloody time. Drives me mad but there’s little I can do apart from try and separate them!
