Small gap and big gap siblings

I have a dd and ds 20 months apart. We are going for a third, which would be 5.5 or 6 years gap from my ds. 7 year gap from dd. What’s it like with a big gap? Do the older kids play with the younger one? Or is the younger one essentially like an only child and left to play alone etc?

Ive got 2 kids with a 6.5 year age gap.
Its absolutely fine. The older one understands when they are a baby. They do "play" together in a way and love each other.

It is what it is, any age gap works and has pros and cons.

Mine are 12 and 6 now.

My sisters are 6 and 8 years older than me, and I grew up feeling like I was an only child. It might have been different if I'd only had one older sister, but as they were close in age I was usually left out.

We're close now, but weren't close when growing up - the age gap meant that they were teenagers while I was in primary school (so didn't want to spend time with their boring little sister), then left home for university when I became a teenager.

I used to really want a sister near my age, as it felt lonely! Are you planning a fourth?

At the moment we are only planning a third. If we got twins we would be fine. If the third was an easy baby/toddler I would go for a 4th. It depends really. We have room for a 4th. It really depends if I can handle it. As the big gap is bc my first two were a handful during the terrible two stage. And my first had bad reflux (didn’t realise at the time) and she was crying all the time unless I held and patted her .

They are nearly 10+4 now.
Very close. Ds is very patient with him - - - previously patience def wasn't his thing!!
