Two month old just slept for 9 hours?!

Hello,

I’m just wanting some reassurance that this is normal really!

So yesterday we put DS’s milk up an ounce which seemed to make him a lot sleepier and had longer naps in the day and more content when he was awake which was great. Then around 8pm he was ready for a feed and drank half of it before being absolutely zonked! I let him sleep in his Moses basket for an hour or so then transferred him to his crib when we went to bed around 10, expecting him to wake in around an hour or so. So you can imagine our shock when we woke up and it was 5:30!

Is this normal?! Should we have woken him up for a feed? He does sometimes skip a feed in the night and goes around 6 hours, but never this long! He’s 10 weeks on Friday Smile

Hunger is one of the strongest human senses so he would have woken of hungry. If you were breastfeeding, you may have wanted to pump during such a long sleep to keep supply up but unless there are any medical issues - jaudice, etc - let them sleep!

DS1 was like that and we thought it was perfectly normal and expected the same for DS 2.
Imagine our shock when it didn't happen again!

I don’t know but I’m reading with envy lol my 3 month old won’t go more than 2 hours still! Seriously though, I’ve met so many people who say their babies have “slept through” since 5 weeks etc I am sure it’s fine- enjoy! X

Not sure if it’s normal or not but both of mine (EBF) slept through like that from 6 weeks. Fingers crossed for you

PavlovaFaith · 12/09/2018 09:17

5.5month old still wakes a good 3 times a night. Literally just ordered a myhummy as it's just not improving at all. Let the child sleep if they're sleeping and enjoy!

bargainsgalore18 · 12/09/2018 09:30

I wouldn’t worry assuming he’s putting on weight ok and seems otherwise ok - enjoy the sleep

GreenMeerkat · 12/09/2018 09:36

Both my DDs were sleeping this long at about 3 months. 2 months it was around 6-7 hours but they were absolutely fine. Lucky you!!!

Lazypuppy · 12/09/2018 12:52

Normal for my LO, she now sleeps 13/14hrs at night

Rebecca36 · 12/09/2018 12:57

Quite normal and you are very fortunate at the moment - it may not last!

ImSpeakingFigurativelyOfCourse · 12/09/2018 12:59

Enjoy Smile I’m in the midst of 4 month sleep regression hell - DS is waking roughly every 40 mins overnight.
Congratulations on your DS

My 2 month old goes around 7-8 hours, unfortunately this is from around 5.30pm Envy but still, I'm slowly getting the last feed later and I'm hoping for a full night's sleep any week now ha!

oooompa · 12/09/2018 13:10

Nothing helpful to add but I am seething with jealousy OP!

I hope you enjoyed the rest, my DD only woke up once last night and I woke up feeling like a new woman Grin

KatyP1975 · 12/09/2018 13:17

One of mine started sleeping 12 hours every night at 9 weeks.

NotSoThinLizzy · 12/09/2018 14:00

Only worry if he starts to lose wieght. Give him extra milk during the day to make up for missing the nights. And congrats on a baby who sleeps 😂 mine didn't sleep longer than four hours untill he was nearly a year old just this last week

HippyChickMama · 12/09/2018 14:10

Dd slept through from 8 weeks, around 10 hours a night. Was a welcome shock after ds who didn't sleep through until he was 1!

Charlottejade89 · 12/09/2018 19:59

my 7 week old dd did this last night, fell asleep about half 8, woke for a bottle at 10ish then slept theough til 5am! I was shocked when I saw the time lol
