Breast feeding

Hi everyone, just seeing if anyone could offer a little advice. Throughout my pregnancy I was never really interested in breastfeeding, although I did say I was going to do the first feed. My baby is 6 days old and when he was born we stayed in the hospital overnight and I breast fed the entire time we was there. Once we got home we used formula mainly because I felt like my partner was eager to be involved in feeding and we don't have a pump. I do want to continue breast feeding but now I can't get him to latch and when I do it's only for a minute or so before he starts to get irritated, he had a really strong suckle straight away so I can't quite understand why he's finding it so difficult now. Does anyone have any tips to encourage him to latch properly or have I missed my chance of breast feeding?

I know of other people who have re-established breast feeding but can be tricky.

The beat thing to do is get some specialist advice. Ring the LLL

I would try and get in tough with your local infant feeding support team! It's definitely possible. Best of luck to you! Hope you manage it ❤️❤️❤️

My 3 month old had a tongue tie so I was pumping for the first 4 weeks until it was reversed. She got used to the bottles and still now refuses the breast a lot,but what works (sometimes) for me,I lie down on the couch with her so she is lying facing my boob, with her lying on my arm, gently but firmly pressing her into my body and then to give her a soother,or a bottle, let her suck for a few seconds and then switch it for my nipple really quickly.I try a couple of times and she will usually latch on.
