Clingy 4 month old??

So i have a 4 month old DS and the past week he seems really clingy.

To the point that if anyone holds him he screams and cries uncontrollably until he is back with me.

He will happily sit on my knee or in his pram/swing and smile and talk at them but if they hold him all hell breaks loose!!

This also happens with grandparents who he often sees and has sleepovers with.

Clingy baby or just being a fuss pot?? Xx

I think it is very normal for him to be clingy. He has been in the world for 16 or so weeks. He sees himself as an extension for you. Enjoy it, it won’t last for long.

Teething?

MummyOf1Boy · 08/09/2018 22:53

I just didnt think they could become clingy so early i thought it was mor 6-7 month they became like that 🤔

I definitely dont think its teething because he only does it when someone apart from me holds him and if i take him off the person he calms down straight away xx

I’m not sure whether this helps but my DD is 4 months and is super clingy to me and will not be put down to sleep! (That’s a Work in progress) She won’t even go to Daddy, it’s totally exhausting but I am just going with it as I’m clearly what she needs for reassurance. I’m sure I’ll look back on this time and wish for it back so I’m trying to enjoy it..... I’m hard work tho! I do think that it’s a phase and will pass. Smile

Thanks helenmummyof2, he isnt clingy were i cant put him down. He will gladly go to bed or sleep on his own or lay on his playmat its just when people hold him.

But he does mainly see me, we can go days without seeing other family members although we do see them on a weekly basis.

It is a nice feeling knowing he prefers me to others but i just hope it wont affect his relationship with grandparents etc xx

Hi there. Same thing here. Download the wonder weeks app. It explains everything! It's very normal right now 😊
