This is not how DH and I talk to each other and it is not how we (mostly) talk to DS, but it is, now, at 3.6, how he is talking to us.
He can be incredibly polite and sweet but most of the time he doesn't even look at me, he just orders me to do something. I am pretty and and of course it presses all sorts of buttons...
Usually I point out that he should ask politely and usually he then does, but I don't want to be repeating this ad nauseam.
Any tips on getting him to be polite more often?

DD is 3.8 and demands like this regularly at home but I get complemented regularly when we are out the house on her lovely manners.
In shopes etc. I never have to remind her ever but at home I am always reminding ehr to ask me nicely.
No words of advice I'm afarid but we are the same all I can do is keep repeating and being grateful that she remembers so well outside the home.

Ignore him until he asks nicely. He obviously knows how to do it. My youngest who is 4 does this atm and we either ignore him or tell him to ask properly or he won't get anything.

DD does this (same age as your ds) i just tend to ask where the magic word is.

I think it just a case of keep reminding them.

yy we do that but of course it's wearing, isn't it?
My mother would have beaten us for talking to her like that. Seriously.
Obv I am not going to do that, nor would I want to! I do loathe hearing him talking to anyone like that but "Please be more polite, please don't talk like that, come on ds that's not nice" etc kind of annoy me as well

My ds is 3.2 and like this. Polite and "butter wouldn't melt" to everyone else, but demanding and ordering me around. Driving me crazy. Was coming on here to start a thread on something similar actually. It does press the buttons doesn't it. I say "what's the magic word" too, but was hoping to find some other suggestions.

Same here with a nearly 6 yr old. An angel outside of course!

I get "Im hungry!" or "I'm thirsty!" too which drives me mad as it is shouted. Keep on and on at him but nothing changes so am going to sit down with him and tell him that in future I will not answer when he asks like this. Then lots of praise when he does ask nicely.

Hoping it will work!
