What does your 18mth old sleep?

So we're in the throws of the 18mth sleep regression and it's been going on for 4or so weeks possibly getting worse with each passing week.
I also have a baby and dh soon to be going away with work so I can no longer spend hours trying to get dc1 to sleep at night while sorting baby too.

I had brief conversation about dc1 sleep (how much sleep prior to regression starting) with a midwife who seemed surprised it was alot. So I'm starting to think perhaps I need to overhaul sleep times as a whole to make it out of this regression alive.

So can I ask

  1. what time your 18mth old goes to bed & wakes up in the morning ?
  2. What time they have their nap at and for how long?
3.. Do you know of a wonder drug or spell even to get dc to go to sleep when put in bed rather than screaming the place down to be held.

DS is 21mo now but hasn't changed since about 14mo - he naps 11am til approx 12.30pm, then sleeps 7pm til 6.30am.

DS is also 18 months old and we've just come out of the regression so you have my sympathy! It will pass!

He is in bed and asleep sometime between 6:15pm and 7pm depending on how tired he is (if we leave it too late because it's not yet "bedtime" then he actually sleeps worse so sometimes he is in the bath before 6pm!) He wakes sometime between 6 and 6:30am.
He naps from about 11:45am-1/1:30pm. Nap starts a bit later if he is at nursery.

Things I found helped during the regression:
Getting up and out into the sunlight and fresh air as early as possible in the morning.
Longer wind down time before bed. So dimmed lights, quiet stories, very quick and not exciting bath in the 45 mins or so before bedtime. It still took ages for him to settle compared to normal during the regression but made a noticeable difference.
And, bringing him into our bed. I thought we'd undo all the hard work having only just moved him into his own room but he's gone back and slept through the night again fine all this week.
Good luck!

Mine used to be asleep between 7.30-8pm nap between 12-2.30
Now it takes anywhere up to 11pm usually with constant crying or holding to get them to sleep.

18 month old DS. In bed at 7.30 and asleep at 8.30, wakes up at 7.30. Naps between 12-3 for 1-2 hours. I don't like the fact that he goes to bed so late but nothing I do seems to get him to sleep any earlier!
