Feeding through vaccinations

Hello,

I've heard that breastfeeding while baby is being vaccinated can help with the pain of it but am worried about my LO making an association between feeding and pain. Have any of you done this? How did it go? Did it put your LO off feeding?

I am no expert whatsoever lol but I used to immediately BF straight after as a comfort so it was a positive experience ( yay we get boob after nasty injections ) in opposed to feeding whilst having the injections as I too worried about the feeding / pain idea but don't actually know if the theory is true or of anyone who's baby has made the pain feed connection x

In all honesty , it is over so so quickly for them , they tend to be upset for a few minutes topsies! X

Little man has his final ones next week and I'll be boob ready for after !

Thanks Zoe. We're headed into our second set so hopefully not too bad. I've heard the sixteen week ones can be tough though.

I fed straight after as a comfort. Calmed ds right down.

I fed during the vaccinations. It was fine and they didn’t associate Bfing with pain at all

I fed straight after, but the nurse said I wasn't allowed to feed during anyway as the child could choke when they went to scream and got startled 🙄, but fed after and it was fine.

@JiltedJohnsJulie would you say the feeding lessened your LO's pain during the vaccinations? Did they come off to scream or just carry on feeding?

They just winced a little then carried on feeding. Lots of BFing Mums do feed through injections OP. Injections always sound horrible and daunting but they’re usually fine

16 wo ones weren't any more difficult here than any others
