Getting rid of dummy before 8 months

Baby will be 8 months in a few weeks she has had a dummy since about 3-4 months as she was using me as a human dummy and I needed a substitute. I don’t particularly mind the dummy she doesn’t have it constantly in her mouth I try to only give it her when she’s in the pram and nap/bed times. Sleep is the reason I want to cold turkey them she wakes multiple times in the night for me to replace the dummy and I think she needs to learn to sleep without it. I am really worried that she will never settle without it and going out will become a nightmare ...any positive stories please

We got rid of DD's dummy at the same sort of age for the same reason. The first couple of times we put her to bed without the dummy were tough, but she adapted quickly. A couple of days later, she had a horrible virus and we decided to give the dummy back to make her feel better, but she rejected it! I was amazed at how quickly she'd moved on. She's 12 months now and I'm glad we did it when we did - it would definitely be much more difficult to try and wean her off it at this point.
