How often is your child breastfeeding (8 month old)?

I have an 8 month old who is still on the boob a lot.

Probably 7 times a day.

I've recently started back to work and he is hardly taking milk from the bottle while I'm away. We've tried formula, expressed breastmilk, he just isn't interested. He's currently teething, which may be a reason for this, but I can't give him much for it except calpol, as he's on a beta blocker and unable to have teething gels or powders to numb the area.

When I get home from work, the first thing we do is nurse. He probably nurses a total of 4-5 times between when I get home from work and when I leave again in the morning. From what my MIL tells me, he's taking maybe 60 ml all day while I'm gone (7:00 am to 6:00 pm).

I spoke to another mum who said her baby was only getting milk 3 times a day, so should I be concerned about this (either the mass amount he takes in a 24 hour period when I'm home or the fact that he's not taking much when I'm working)?

TIA!

Oh, I should have mentioned, he is on solids 3 times a day but not especially interested in anything with a bit of texture/lumpiness, which is what I've been advised by the HV to be giving him now.

He'll scarf down a smooth puree but if there's any texture at all, it's hit or miss.

Finger foods are also hit and miss. Sometimes he'll devour them, sometimes he just wants to see how well he can pulverize them with his hands.

Mine is a couple of weeks younger than yours and nurses 7-8 times in 24 hours. Milk is still the major source of calories at that age, they don’t get much nutrition from the small amount of food they eat. I’d be concerned if mine was only having milk at night and nothing all day.

3 times a day at 11, 3 and 7.

Sleeps roughly 7-1 then she insists on feeding on and off for the rest of the night.

Took 3oz of formula from a bottle today which was a massive step in my book

mine was very similar to yours.
now 11 months and when at nursery has bf at 7am, about 4oz bottle midday (sometimes less) and then breastfeed when I get in from work at 5.30ish and maybe a quick top up before bed but not a full feed.
on my days off he wants to feed much more often but doesn't always take very much. he is eating very well though 3 big meals a day plus snacks and has reduced his feed amounts gradually over the last couple of months
