9 day old, dry skin?

I've noticed some dry skin cracks in my 9 day olds skin creases. Is this normal? It's worse on her wrists? Is she scratching herself? The scratch mitts I have are too big other than the ones already built in the baby grows but the room is too warm to put her in one :(

Congratulations on your new baby.
This is very normal. We used a little bit of Sudocreme and kept DCs' nails short.

It's totally normal. Babies lose a layer of skin in the first month and it all comes off in dry flakes. My baby girl had it really bad for a while. I just bathed her with a tiny bit of baby soap diluted in the water and gently rubbed with a baby wash cloth. When I say rubbed I don't mean like we use an exfoliating glove, I just went over the skin once or twice pressing very lightly. You have to be so careful when they are that small, everything is so sensitive. You could just wash baby in water and leave it to come off on it's own xx

DD2 had terrible dry skin and we used olive oil. It was the only thing that didn't irritate her.

Thank you! Thought it might be a silly question. New mum worrying too much!

So normal!
Congratulations! SmileFlowers
Olive oil is wonderful or if you feel like spending a bit more, Weleda makes a lovely calendula oil for babies. But olive oil will give equally good results and is gentle too.

Very normal, especially if born past due date as 2 of mine were.

Olive oil.

Congrats!
