Independent play

Hi all

I've got a very active 7 month old who is cruising. He spends a lot of his time 'playing' independently - exploring our play room, looking at his books, pushing his walker, crawling in and out of a big cardboard box. It's quite difficult to get him to engage in playing with us - he'll play with his musical instruments or his building blocks with us for a minute or two and then wander off and do his own thing.

He's a pretty happy little boy and we're pleased that he can occupy himself for a bit (although heavily supervised as he loves to make a beeline for the most dangerous thing in any room!). But should we be trying harder to get him to play with us?

Any recommendations for toys or games that are good for this age and stage?

Thank you!
