Congested baby

Good morning everyone!

My 7 week old is suffering with congestion. He chokes on mucus regularly and is constantly snuffly. We have saline spray and an aspirator that we use, we've tried the steamy bathroom etc and he still seems to struggle with it. It's worse at night and he sleeps on a slight incline in his crib.

Does anyone have any other suggestions as to how I can help him please? The doctor said he's putting on weight well and it isn't interfering too much with his feeding so there's not much else to do, but I wondered if anyone had any tips or tricks that they may have used?

Thank you!

The best thing we found was to buy a humidifer and run it in near the baby at night, its much better than the steamy bathroom because its constant. The one we got was from amazon and it was about £12. Then we put a few drops of the olbas oil baby oil in. It helped SO much. LO slept way more soundly and it cleared his cold up fairly quickly.

Oh and calpol plug ins are good too!

Thank you @owltrousers! I will have a look for a humidifier and at the cal pop plug ins! It's so awful seeing them struggle isn't it.

Can you use the plug in and humidifier together or was one better than the other?

@Dorabean the humidifier is definitely better because the humid air helps to relieve congestion.

We used both together, but try it - you might find it a bit overpowering.

I put snufflebabe on a bib and tied it to the crib/pram. Out of reach but close enough to breathe it in

Calpol plug in is really good

I used a combo of saline spray and snufflebabe. It worked well.

Is it OK to use all of it if he's only 7 weeks old? Everything says 3+ months. I have used some snufflebabe as you've all suggested and I think it has helped a little. Thank you so much for your replies!
